TAPER lock BUSHING

information

What is a taper lock bushing?

The Taper lock bushing, also referred to as a Taper bush or Taper Fit bush, is a locking mechanism commonly used in Power Transmission Drives for locating pulleys, sprockets, and couplings to shafts. The Taper lock bushing is pre-bored and keyed to match the required shaft and keyway diameters. The outside of the bush is tapered to match the component bore that is to be located on the shaft.

The Taper lock  bushing is manufactured from precision cast iron.,and is machined to a high quality finish. It is computer-etched for ease of size identification and it may be manufactured in steel or stainless steel upon request. Taper bushes are available in both imperial and metric shaft sizes, ranging from 0.375 inches up to 5 inches, and 9 mm up to 125 mm.All quality manufacturers will also supply an installation instruction sheet with the bush.

Taper Lock Bushings Features

A Taper Lock Bushing has a taper of eight degrees, which reduces the length-through-bore. It also features an internal screw to hold the bushing in place. Tapered bushings can also fit into shafts with different bore diameters. Before installation, make sure to clean the bushings thoroughly to ensure they seat properly.

Power transmission

A Taper Lock Bushing is used in power transmission drives. They feature a precision-cast iron body, with an etched taper for easy identification.

High torque

High tensile screws are used to fasten the taper part to the hub, which ensures a secure connection and high torque.

Properly

A taper lock bushing is a crucial part of a sprocket’s installation since it ensures that the sprocket is aligned properly.

A Taper Lock Bushing is a mechanical joint used to connect a shaft to another part. They are made of steel and feature a tapered surface to lock onto the shaft. They also feature a thread and key-way for additional security. Taper lock bushings are available in different sizes and can be interchanged with a variety of other bushings from other manufacturers.

How Does a Taper Lock Bushing Work?

A taper lock bushing is an important piece of a hub assembly. It helps the sprocket hubs fit tightly and accurately on the shaft. A taper-lock bushing has a better fit than a keyway bushing and offers a shorter installation time.

The taper lock bush is made with an 8-degree taper that creates a string fit when installed. The taper is usually used in power transmission applications and is available in SAE grade 5 and SAE grade 8. You can find them in everything from automobiles to agricultural machinery, kitchen appliances, and more.

difference

QD Bushing VS Taper Lock Bushing

What is the difference between taper locking and QD bushing? The main difference between the two is that the QD casing has a flange around the outside diameter, while the tapered locking casing has a straight edge on the outside diameter.

If you are not sure which type to choose, there are many different types of tapered lock bushings and sizes available. Generally, they range in size from 1/2 inch to 5.5 inches.
